Drift diving is an essential skill for UK diving and more exciting dives abroad. The UK is prone to strong tides and on a typical dive trip one dive is completed at high or low tide when the water is calm and the second takes place when the tide is coming out or coming in. When the tide is 'running' we complete a drift dive going with the flow of the water with a DSMB (Delayed Surface Marker Buoy) deployed so the boat can follow us as we drift.
