PADI Assistant Instructor

The PADI AI course is the 1st step to becoming a full Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI).

This course is taught by Dive Wimbledon's PADI Course Director or PADI Staff Instructors Pete Tomkins or Geoff Creighton.

DETAILS
  • The AI course runs over 3 to 5 days (the first section of the IDC-Instructor Development Course), depending on the amount of candidates attending. The program includes academic, confined water and open water teaching sessions. This course takes you through the basics of becoming a dive educator.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Complete the knowledge reviews in the Assistant Instructor workbook and theory preparation and skill practise is recommended. Dive Wimbledon is happy to help with this before your course at no cost.
COMPLETION
  • Qualifying as an AI allows you to progress on to the OWSI program and allows you to teach programs like the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty, Project Aware and also conduct certain portions of the Open Water Diver Course.
PREREQUISITES
  • PADI Divemaster with a minimum of 60 logged dives with night, deep and navigation experience.
  • A valid HSE Dive medical (within 12 months) - contact Roger for more information.
  • Be current with your EFR / CPR & 1st Aid training (within the last 24 months)
  • Minimum 18 years of age
COST
  • £350 or £750 when combined with the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor course to complete an IDC (Instructor Development Course)
  • Instructor Crew Pack + Elearning Required
  • Application Fee payable to PADI directly upon completion (£62.40)
DURATION
  • 2 weekends
  • Next Course : 4 times a year
  • If completing the PADI Instructor course as well the additional two weekends will be in April and June

A PADI Assistant Instructor is an instructional assistant who can teach a vareity of PADI courses on ther own as well as teach the theory for most PADI courses under the indirect supervision on a full qualified PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor or above.
