Dive Crew

Roger Hirst became a PADI DM in 1994 and a PADI Instructor in 1995 and has taught over 900 divers all over the world before setting up Dive Wimbledon in 2003. He loves to teach absolute beginners to see their faces when they realise just how much fun diving can be.

Jane Hirst became a PADI DM on Utila in Honduras in 1999 and has been to many of the worlds beautiful dive spots including Tahiti, New Zealand, Costa Rica and Mexico as well as The Red Sea and The Carribean. Jane is always happy to pass on the knowledge she has gained to new and experienced divers.

Andy Browne has been diving for 11 years and is a PADI Master Instructor, EFR Instructor Trainer, Dan O2 Instructor and a Diver Medic. When not teaching he can frequently be found in his apartment in Egypt or diving somewhere on yet another exotic holiday. In August 2010 he was PADI's worldwide instuctor of the month! Howard Payne is a PADI MSDT and is moving through the technical instructor ranks quickly. He teaches all Dive Wimbledons tech course as well as keeping his hand in with recreational coures as well. He can frequently be found UK diving and wishes he could take the wrecks home with him.

Pete Tomkins learned to dive in Cozumel in 2008. Since then he has completed all his courses with Dive Wimbledon becoming an instructor and then recently moving on to become a PADI Master Instructor

Dawn Trusler learnt to dive in 1996 in Putney Leisure Centre pool. Dawn has been diving with Dive Wimbledon for 8 years and has dived all over the world. She became a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer in 2011 and is now teaching divers in the same pool where she learnt.
Sophie Platteuw is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer who learnt to dive at Portland when she was 12 years old. She has worked in Thailand and Vietnam before joining Dive Wimbledon where she teaches and can often be found in the shop on a Saturday. Doug Joycey learnt to dive in Papua New Guinea where he grew up and has been diving ever since. He completed his Advanced course with Dive Wimbledon and went on to become a PADI Instructor in 2009 and then a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer..
Andy Humphrys trained with the BSAC in 1990 and retrained again in 2000 before becoming a PADI diver in 2001. He is currently a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer. Peter Seed learnt to dive with Roger in 2001 and has been  an avid diver ever since. As a PADI Divemaster he can often be found helping with Open Water and pool training.

Tristan Iles became a PADI Divemaster in 2009 and is an IANTD Trimix Diver qualified to dive to 48 metres. He can frequently be found leading UK Orientation dives for those new to UK diving and supervising snorkelers.

Laura Townsend learnt to dive in Barbados in 1999 but has completed most of her diving in Scotland. She discovered Dive Wimbledon 4 years ago when she met Dive Wimbledon legend Wendy in Marsa Alam and is now a PADI Instructor
Tess Merrington learnt to dive with Dive Wimbledon before heading off to dive in Utila Honduras on a conservation project. Since coming back she has progressed though her courses with Dive Wimbledon and has almost completed her Divemaster course. Toni Gill has been a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor since 2008 and she has been diving with Dive Wimbledon since she completed her Rescue Diver course six years ago. Toni can often be found working in our dive shop in the summer months though this year she is busy studying for her law degree.
